04 - 100G Alien Wavelength test

We examine the capability of UNINETT`s DWDM network in order to support 100G alien wavelength by running a field trial between Trondheim and Oslo. Pros and cons of such operation will be tested and evaluated.

Test layout
We examine a technology test of Transmode's 100G DWDM solution between University of Oslo and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim over UNINETT’s existing optical infrastructure. The wavelength has been deployed as Alien Wavelength (AW).
The test consists of Transmode’s 100G single carrier optical interfaces into UNINETT's existing optical infrastructure which is based on NSN’s hiT 7300 platform. The 100G single carrier alien wavelength is running over a 50GHz spectrum platform in combination with already deployed 10G and 100G channels.
The figures below shows the test layout we examine both muxponder and transponder functionalities. The 100G wavelength throughput will tested running 10Gbit/s traffic back and forth through 10GbE muxponder ports.
