Authentication Beyond Basic Attributes (ABBA)

If you say federation, you say attributes ...and attribute release policy ...and attribute-based authorisation ...and maybe, just maybe, even user consent. But what if we told you we can take the attributes out of the federation and make them work offline as well? And in way that is inherently privacy-friendly rather than bolting on user consent as an afterthought? This talk will explore new academic developments in attribute-based authentication. In particular we will discuss the IRMA project (https://www.irmacard.org/) initiated by the Radboud University Nijmegen and TNO in which SURFnet is an active participant.
