Aiding OpenFlow Controller by Enhancing OpenFlow's Control Model, and Behavior of Flows

OpenFlow is a promising future Internet enabling technology that has a great potential to improve current Internet by providing new functionalities and control scheme, thus enabling smarter applications. However, there have been some debates regarding its controller’s scalability; due to its centralized controller design. Our study aims to provide OpenFlow with an enhanced control model that combines both central and distributed control, and a new behavior of flows to support strictly-timed flows, in order to provide a more relaxed control. This is done by designing two enhancements; network equipment to equipment flow installation, and a new type of proactive flows.
